To add an atom to a structure, specify an element and hybridization, then click on a hydrogen to replace it with that atom. To remove an atom from a structure, click on any non-hydrogen atom and it will be removed, and any dangling bonds terminated with hydrogens.
I'm Will Ware, an engineer in the Boston area. I was originally drawn to all this stuff by an interest in nanotechnology. Actually I'm a terrible chemist, a fact that has come to my attention every time I've gone to a nanotech conference. Working on this website and its 1997 predecessor have been my attempts to do something about that, and hopefully produce something useful and instructive in the process.
My formal training is in electrical engineering and computer science. I've tried to make everything here as scientifically accurate as possible, but I'm aware of several bugs, and I'm quite sure there are bugs I'm entirely unaware of. If you are learning chemistry, make sure to consult with a chemistry teacher or tutor.
Got suggestions? Questions? Feature requests? Want to report a bug? You can reach me at email@example.com. Thanks.
